Driven by my role as a parent within the community, I have observed critical areas in which Conroe ISD can improve.The need for enhanced literacy rates resonates with me deeply, especially as a mother of two dyslexic sons. My passion lies in ensuring that every student has access to the resources they require. Through thorough research and dedicated advocacy, I have gained comprehensive insights into the expectations, resources, and operations of public schools throughout Texas. I aspire to bridge the gap between parents and the administration, advocating on behalf of families within Conroe ISD. Nicole May is driven by her unwavering commitment to empowering struggling readers and fostering a thriving educational environment for all students. With a rich history of advocacy, community engagement, and a strong passion for education, Nicole’s candidacy embodies a spirit of positive change.
Nicole’s passion for education traces back to her upbringing in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where her mother’s 35-year teaching career instilled a deep appreciation for the transformative power of education. From assisting her mother in classroom activities to contributing to creative projects, Nicole’s early exposure to education nurtured her lifelong commitment to fostering learning environments that inspire growth and development.
An advocate at heart, Nicole has dedicated herself to championing the rights and needs of dyslexic students across the state. When her own sons faced challenges due to dyslexia within the public school system, Nicole saw an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. As a member of the Texas Dyslexia Coalition, she played a vital role in the passing of legislation that identifies and serves dyslexic students, as well as informs parents about the resources and rights available to struggling readers. Nicole’s determination and leadership during the 87th and 88th sessions of the Texas legislature reflect her unyielding commitment to ensuring that every child receives the support they need to thrive academically.
Beyond her advocacy work, Nicole is a devoted wife and mother of three, mirroring her dedication to family values in her efforts within the educational landscape. Drawing from her personal experiences, Nicole founded MOCO Dyslexia Partnership, a local network designed to provide resources and support to parents navigating the challenges of dyslexia. This initiative earned her recognition from the school district in the form of the prestigious “Patrons Influencing Education” award in 2021, further affirming her impact within the community.
As a candidate for the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees, Nicole embodies the qualities of empathy, dedication, and advocacy that are essential for fostering educational excellence. With her history of impactful contributions and her relentless commitment to student success, Nicole seeks to usher in a new era of positive change within the district, making her a truly exceptional candidate for the position.
Nicole and her husband, Chris, have three children, who were raised in the Conroe ISD school district. Their love for children, however, did not stop with their own children; they have served as foster parents and care deeply for all children that have endured hardship.
While Nicole’s dedication to advocacy remains at the forefront of her life, she also values personal growth and enrichment. Additionally, Nicole finds joy in family vacations and supporting her sons’ passion for baseball.
